Claims Assistant

Job Description

A Claims Assistant is needed for our Philadelphia Insurance client.

Principal Responsibilities:
  • Provides various administrative support services to Department on daily basis.
  • Assists in answering incoming calls and relaying messages to the appropriate person.
  • Reports new claims to insurance carriers, third party claims administrators and wholesalers
  • Follows up on reported claims for claim number and adjusters contact information and enter all information into the Claim Loss Database.
  • Sets diary for their follow-up on all first party claims (client related auto and property claims) and follow to conclusion. Should the claim become more complex or problematic, then the claim is elevated to an Associate or a Consultant.
  • Maintains and updates claims on department Open 1st Party Claims spreadsheet.
  • Reports lawsuits to appropriate carriers and follows up for adjuster information as well as defense counsel assignment, notates all information into the Claim Loss Database and set diaries for Consultant or Associate.
  • Set requested diaries for Consultants and Associates.
  • Keeps abreast of developments with claims by following up on diaries and alerting Associates of major developments on a claim.
  • Distribute mail and attach to appropriate claim
  • Photocopy and bind books in preparation of client meetings and internal meetings.
  • Upon client renewal, sends appropriate communications to clients
  • Sets up and breaks down meetings and meeting rooms
  • Scans requested documents for Consultants and Associates.
  • Prepares correspondence for regular mail or UPS Overnight Services.
  • Provides back-up assistance to other Consultants, Associates and Analysts who are unavailable.
  • Set up documents in Word, Excel, PowerPoint.

Other Functions:
  • Distributes mail to appropriate parties.
  • Updates/Checks Claim Consultants calendars.
  • Must be organized and detail-oriented and possess a positive attitude
  • Team player
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Must be self-motivated with the ability to work independently
  • Must possess excellent analytical skills and problem solving skills
  • Must have the ability to be flexible and work outside of the normal work day
  • Other duties as assigned
      • Job Requirements

        • High School diploma or equivalent
        • Some insurance industry experience
        • Working knowledge of MS Office Suite (Work, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
        • Must possess excellent customer service skills
        • Must be organized and detail-oriented and possess a positive attitude
        • Excellent oral and written communication skills
