Job Description

Position Summary:

  • Supervise Quality staff; delegate work assignments, monitor/review quality of work, develop staff through mentoring and training, conduct performance appraisal, hiring, termination, and discipline.
  • Coordinate and direct Quality program by achieving quality assurance operational objectives by contributing information and analysis to strategic plans and reviews; preparing and completing action plans; implementing production, productivity, quality, and customer-service standards; identifying and resolving problems; completing audits; determining system improvements; implementing change.
  • Develops and monitors quality assurance plans by conducting hazard analyses; identifying critical control points and preventive measures; establishing critical limits, monitoring procedures, corrective actions, and verification of procedures.
  • Validates quality processes by establishing product specifications and quality attributes; measuring production; documenting evidence; determining operational and performance qualification; writing and updating quality assurance procedures.
  • Maintains and improves product quality by completing product, company, system, compliance, and surveillance audits; investigating customer complaints; collaborating with internal department management to develop new product and engineering designs, and manufacturing and training methods.
  • Prepares quality documentation and reports by collecting, analyzing and summarizing information and trends including failed processes, stability studies, re-work, corrective actions, and re-validations.
  • Establishes quality goals and requirements by designing, organizing, and promoting a quality culture; developing and disseminating standards, metrics, standard operating procedure (SOP) management, and contractor document and production records guidelines.
  • Plans and implements goals and objectives as established for the department. 
  • Establishes and maintains safety operations by adhering to procedures and policies.
  • Performs other related duties as required

Job Requirements


Required Skills

  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. 
  • Aptitude for writing reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. 
  • Excellent communications skills, ability to mentor positive team building
  • Intermediate skill level with operating Microsoft office programs.
  • Effectively able to present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, customers, and general public.
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, fundamentals of plane and solid geometry, and trigonometry. 
  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  • Ability to solve practical problems when performing a wide variety of duties involving general knowledge of company policies and procedures within scope of responsibilities and their application to cases not previously covered. 
  • Duties require considerable judgment to work independently toward general results, devising new methods or concepts, modifying or adapting standard procedures to meet new conditions, making decisions guided by precedent and based on company policies.

Required Experience

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Quality Engineering or related field.
  • Thorough understanding of AS9100 systems.

Experience:

  • Must have experience with MRB and corrective action in an aerospace manufacturing setting.
  • Must have experience implementing a certified operator program.
  • Knowledge of CMM inspection process is required.
  • Must have an understanding of DPD process.
  • 10+ years of related experience including substantial quality assurance or compliance management experience related to the Aerospace industry.
  • Experience interfacing with large commercial aerospace companies as a quality supplier.
  • Knowledge of lean principles in a manufacturing environment is a strongly recommended.
