Configuration Technician

Job Description

Smart Source-inc is looking for a Configuration Technician for a contract opportunity in Vernon Hills.



Role Overview
The Technician Level Two is responsible for performing complex enterpriseinstalls that include software, hardware and network configurations. Thisposition collaborates with vendors to resolve configuration issues.

Key Areas of Responsibility
•Install, configure and upgrade operating systems and software, using standardbusiness applications as well as OUR CLIENTs proprietary software packages.
•Install, assemble and configure computers, network infrastructure componentssuch as rack enclosures and related hardware; pull, rewire and label cablesinside rack enclosures.
•Troubleshoot problems with computer systems, including hardware, software,network and peripheral equipment.
•Configure and test every system to ensure 100% quality.
•Update comments on picks to be cancelled and forwards to a Help Desk,Supervisor or Manager.
•Communicate with Account Managers and customers regarding their specificnetwork configurations.
•Communicate issues concerning customer orders to the area Help Desk orSupervisor.

Responsibilities
•Complete projects and tasks assigned by management to include assisting teamwith non enterprise-level builds as required.
•It may be necessary on occasion for this individual to work beyond theirregularly scheduled shift
•Overtime is to be expected and in some cases required. In addition, a rotationof one Saturday 8:00am-5:00pm in every four weeks will be required. One Sundayper year may also be required
•Demonstrate ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds of force occasionally(0-33% of the workday) The personal lifting requirement is allowed only up to50lbs. The team lift system must be utilized for loads weighing more than 50pounds.
•Demonstrated ability to push and pull up to 10 pounds of force rarely (0-12%of the workday).
•Demonstrated ability to perform eight or more hours of standing, walking,bending, lifting, stooping and carrying products in combination at any giventime.
•Ability to work in a warehouse environment which includes changes intemperature as weather fluctuates, noise from conveyors and forklifts.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
•High School diploma or GED.
•A+ certification or an equivalent combination of education and experience withthe ability to demonstrate knowledge.
•Network+ and third certification or an equivalent combination of education anda minimum of two years of experience with the ability to demonstrate knowledge.
•CCNA certification (will need to be current and provide copy of thecertification)

Other Required Qualifications
•Ability to troubleshoot computer systems and peripherals, as well as identifyhardware incompatibilities on multiple platforms
•Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
•Strong written and verbal communication skills
•Ability to maintain and update technical documentation for theEnterprise-Level customers
•Strong analytical skills and problem solving skills
•Ability to multitask effectively
•Ability to quickly learn about new technology and keep pace with anever-changing industry
•Ability to communicate with coworkers at all levels in the organization

Preferred Qualifications
•One of the following Comptia Certifications: Server+, Security+, Linux+
•Associates Degree in computer science or equivalent experience
•Two years of work experience on network hardware or software
•Demonstrated customer service and sales skills, as well as effectivecommunication skills (verbal and written) for interaction with internal andexternal customers.
•Basic knowledge of OUR CLIENTs internal systems including order statusinquires and updating order comments
