Senior Support Technician

Job Description

Job Description: SmartSource is in need of a Sr. Support Technician for a 3-6 Month opportunity located in Houston TX. This position is to provide interface from our client’s information technology group to designated manufacturing facilities throughout the southwest and potentially several sites in California. The primary purpose of this position is to monitor, manage, promote and support computing technology and standards, policies and procedures. This position will be based at our client’s Houston corporate office location and will require occasional travel to manufacturing facilities within the designated region.


Supports a wide variety of applications.?

Implements and maintains various peripherals and network attached devices

Helping with the Design, Installation, and Maintenance of Computer networks for customers

Accurately diagnose, repair, and maintain equipment as well as accessories in optimum operating condition.

Explain repairs completed to the customers and how the customer can prevent it from occurring.

Keep current with new technology through manufacturers classes, computer based training, and etc.


Must pass a drug and criminal background check before starting

In depth knowledge of PC installation, hardware component installation/replacement, and software installation

Bachelor’s degree in related field preferred

In depth knowledge of Microsoft server operating systems in a large environment (MCSE certification or other Microsoft certifications a plus)

A minimum of 3 years of experience supportinglarge computing environments

Hands on experience demonstrating expertise with server hardware (HP, Dell, IBM)

Experience with a variety of tools for server management, workstation management, and LAN management

Experience with resource backup hardware, software andstrategy, printers and other peripherals

Knowledge of internetworking components ( i.e., routers,IPVPN, Ethernet, switches)

Strong time management skills ,ability to multi-task, ability to work independently

Strong organization skills a must, project management experience a plus

Experience in interfacing with contractors and vendors – to define requirements, negotiate small contracts, manage performance

Proven interpersonal skills- ability to communicate and work effectively with multiple layers of the organization

Good oral and written communication skills

Must be willing to travel when needed

Experience with budgeting and cost tracking a plus

Must have excellent customer service background.
