Job Description

Our client, a well established manufacturing company, has an immediate opening at their Kings Mountain, NC facility for a Purchasing Manager. The Purchasing Manager will provide direction and support to the Global Engineering Group and the North American production facilities in the areas of Capital Equipment and MRO procurement. Main responsibilities for Capital Equipment are: Solicitation of bids; Establishing target costs Contract review and administration with a focus on negotiation and administration of warranty clauses, ensuring proper performance clause, negotiation of proper liability clauses and negotiation of favorable pricing and payment terms Interfacing with the Legal Department to establish standard terms and conditions for capital equipment procurement; Expedite equipment deliver when required Supplier Management and performance evaluation and documentation of variances versus target.

Main responsibilities for MRO: Establish and maintain corporate agreements with MRO vendors for the North American facilities; Ensure favorable costs, terms and service; Manage the bid process; Evaluate and recommend vendor managed inventory programs; Assist the Maintenance team in establishing the appropriate levels of safety stock; Source and procure non-standard items as necessary and ensure appropriate purchasing review on MRO purchase orders.

The Purchasing Manager will identify and present suggestions for the process improvement to the North American Management Team and Global Engineering Team to include a focus on the following areas:

          Enhanced SAP utilization

          Improved utilization of electronic documentation

          Documenting and updating the Purchasing procedures for Capital Equipment/MRO as needed

          Participate in Lean Sigma events focused on the Capital/MRO areas

          Development of KPI’s for areas of involvement and perform against established KPI’s

 

Job Requirements

          BS/BA degree in Business, Engineering or other related area

          A minimum of 5 years experience in Capital Equipment procurement in a manufacturing environment

          Strong background in contract review and management

          Exceptional organizational and planning skills

          Ability to read and comprehend technical drawings and specifications

          Project Management experience a plus

          Excellent PC and Microsoft skills

          C.P.M or CPSM certification a plus
